IN the clandestine world of trade between India and Pakistan, Dubai is a strategic sanctuary, for operations that bypass Government restrictions. At the heart of this covert network lies the ingenious system of triangle shipments.

Dubai’s allure for traders lies in its strategic location and accommodating business atmosphere, offering a safe haven for evading regulatory barriers imposed by the Indian and Pakistani governments.

Through the intricate web of triangle shipments, goods take a detour via Dubai, obscuring their true origins and destinations from prying official eyes.

An overwhelming majority – 88 per cent – of informal trade between India and Pakistan flows through this hub, with a staggering 68 per cent of India’s exports to Pakistan routed through Dubai. What’s more, the Dubai route boasts 2.75 times greater efficiency in terms of transaction costs compared to direct channels.
