NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for development projects worth more than Rs 26000 crore in Jagdalpur, the divisional headquarters of tribal Bastar division in Chhattisgarh, on October 3.

He also dedicated to the nation the NMDC’s greenfield steel plant established at Nagarnar in Bastar. Built at a cost of about Rs 24000 crores, the integrated steel plant will produce high-quality steel.

“Chhattisgarh is reaping the benefits of being a large steel-producing state”, the Prime Minister said and added that the steel produced in this plant will give new energy to the automobile, engineering and defence manufacturing sectors of the nation. “The steel produced in Bastar will strengthen the armed forces along with boosting defence exports”, PM Modi said. He underlined that the steel plant will provide employment opportunities to approximately 50,000 youth from Bastar and nearby regions. “The new steel plant will give new momentum to the prioritisation of development of aspirational districts like Bastar by the Central Government”, he added.

During his visit to Jagdalpur, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for the upgradation of Jagdalpur railway station and also dedicated to the nation the new rail line between Antagarh and Taroki and the double rail line project between Jagdalpur and Dantewada. PM Modi also flagged off the train service between Taroki and Raipur. These projects will improve rail connectivity in this tribal area and give impetus to the economic development of the area.

Besides, the Prime Minister also dedicated to the nation a new road built between Kunkuri and Chhattisgarh-Jharkhand border on National Highway-45.

PM Modi also laid the foundation stone and dedicated to the nation multiple development projects worth more than 8000 crores rupees in Nizamabad, Telangana.
