NEW DELHI: The new generation of Moets, spearheaded by Rahil Bindra, is venturing into newer cuisines. The Red Door restaurant in Rajouri Garden is his tryst with South East Asian delicacies. True to its tagline – Gateway to South East Asia – the moment one steps inside Red Door, one feels transported to South East Asia. The ambience and décor of Red Door has been painstakingly done to replicate countries like Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
The menu is a collaboration of select cuisines from the seven South East Asian countries. “To give an example, we have adopted three major dishes from Indonesia in Red Door. We have created the look and feel of it,” says Rahil.
What further sets the Red Door apart is the fact that the original cuisine has been customised to suit the Indian palate. As Rahil’s wife Nitika Kapoor Bindra puts it, “We have tweaked the dishes and added an Indian element in each of these, which is quite unique.”
Even the cutlery and other accessories have been imported. “We were particular about creating the replica of a particular country and to that extent, we purchased the cutlery and other accessories from Thailand, Indonesia and China,” said Rahil. “It’s a place where one would like to come again and again,” says a confident Rahil.
