DUBAI has reaffirmed its status as a global tourism powerhouse, recording 9.88 million overnight international arrivals in the first half of 2025, a 6 per cent increase over the same period in 2024, the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism has announced, reported DD news.

This milestone reflects the emirate’s ambitious pursuit of excellence in tourism, infrastructure, and global connectivity, in line with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to position the city among the world’s top three tourist destinations.

India remains a significant contributor to this growth, with Mumbai ranking among the top source markets, accounting for 1.2 million passengers through Dubai International Airport alone. The close cultural and economic ties between India and Dubai reinforced by celebrity-driven campaigns have resonated with Indian travellers seeking luxury, adventure, and convenience.

Dubai’s tourism sector has thrived on well-orchestrated global outreach initiatives that showcase the city’s diversity. High-profile campaigns such as “Find Your Story” and “Dubai, Ready for a Surprise?” have drawn millions of viewers, particularly in India, where Bollywood and cricket icons have boosted appeal. Emirates Airline has also played a pivotal role by offering Indian tourists benefits such as complimentary hotel stays and discounted attraction passes.

Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest for international passenger traffic, handled 46 million passengers in the first six months of 2025, a 2.3 per cent increase over 2024 , with Mumbai emerging among its top 10 routes, alongside London and Riyadh. This robust connectivity has made Dubai a favourite destination for Indian families, business travellers, and solo explorers alike.

Cultural landmarks like the Museum of the Future, which has attracted 4 million visitors since its opening in 2022, and Dubai’s expansive parks, which hosted 16.7 million visitors in 2025, have further reinforced its appeal to Indian tourists seeking both innovation and leisure. Dubai continues to serve as a vital trade and travel hub for India, with partnerships between Dubai’s tourism authorities and Indian travel agencies deepening bilateral engagement.

Flagship events such as the Dubai Shopping Festival and Dubai Fitness Challenge are expected to attract even more Indian visitors in the second half of 2025, building on a packed event calendar that already saw Dubai secure 249 international conference bids. The ongoing $35 billion expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport further underscores the city’s commitment to meeting rising demand from key markets, including India.
