NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 25 attended the Indian Air Force Day Aerial Display 2026 at Namo Ghat in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, as part of celebrations marking the 94th anniversary of the Indian Air Force (IAF).

The event, themed “Wings over Ganges”, was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The aerial display featured a range of aircraft, including the indigenous Tejas light combat aircraft, the Light Combat Helicopter Prachand, and frontline fighter jets such as the Su-30MKI and Rafale. Transport and support aircraft, including the IL-76, IL-78, C-295 and AN-32, were also part of the programme.

The Indian Air Force’s Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team and Sarang Helicopter Display Team participated in the event, demonstrating coordinated formations and aerial manoeuvres.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister inaugurated Arvind Limited’s new garment manufacturing facility in Varanasi. The facility is expected to strengthen the region’s textile and apparel manufacturing sector, attract industrial investment and create employment opportunities, particularly for women.

The unit also reflects a focus on expanding women’s participation in the workforce and supporting women-led development, according to the information provided.

The facility, being built at a cost of Rs 150 crore, is set to create thousands of jobs, with priority given to local women residents.

The commencement of this factory, spanning over eight acres, is seen as the beginning of new chapter for employment and textile sector in the Purvanchal region.

The factory currently employs about 1,000 individuals and plans to hire another 1,000 people in near future.
