MUMBAI: The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC) Kuwait signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the ICC Global Business Summit 2025 here.

The agreement aims to strengthen bilateral trade, promote investment, and foster business partnerships between India and Kuwait. The summit, celebrating ICC’s centennial as India’s oldest chamber, drew a significant number of foreign delegates and Indian industry leaders. The two-day event showcased investment opportunities presented by various Indian state governments.

The Kuwaiti delegation, led by SK Wadhawan, ICC’s chief representative in Kuwait, underscored the summit’s importance. He said following the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Mod, to Kuwait in December last year, the two nations have forged transformative bilateral agreements. “These have strengthened trade, commerce, cultural exchange, and people-to-people connections,” he said. Wadhawan added, “The Prime Minister’s visit has injected fresh momentum into our partnership, laying a strong foundation for elevating ties. The ICC Kuwait Chapter, in collaboration with IBPC, is committed to supporting these opportunities.”

Abhyuday Jindal, ICC President and Managing Director of Jindal Stainless, stated that India and Kuwait share strong economic and cultural bonds. This MoU, he said, “is a vital step toward deepening our partnership, connecting businesses, and unlocking opportunities in trade, investment, and innovation.”

Kaizar T Shakir, Honorary Chairman of IBPC Kuwait, said, “This agreement reflects our shared vision to build stronger economic bridges between India and Kuwait. By fostering dialogue and business linkages, we aim to empower entrepreneurs and investors to explore high-growth sectors and create sustainable partnerships.”

The MoU targets key sectors, including infrastructure, energy, technology, healthcare, and professional services, providing a platform for Indian and Kuwaiti enterprises to explore investments, share expertise, and enhance market access. It strengthens the longstanding India-Kuwait relationship, paving the way for innovative, futureready collaborations. The ICC’s centenary event is supported by the Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Commerce, and the state governments of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Bihar, and Himachal Pradesh.
