THE Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) has launched the Pharma Research in AyurGyan And Techno Innovation (PRAGATI-2024) initiative to promote research and innovation in the field of Ayurveda. The initiative aims to provide an opportunity for collaborative research between CCRAS and the Ayurveda drug industry.

The growing importance of the ayurveda industry in India and worldwide was highlighted during the event by the Secretary, Ministry of Ayush

The launch of PRAGATI-2024 was marked by the presence of various dignitaries including Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush; Rabinarayan Acharya, DG, CCRAS; and Koustubha Upadhaya, Advisor (Ayu.), Ministry of Ayush. In his address, Kotecha highlighted the growing importance of the Ayurveda industry in India and worldwide.

Growth opportunities

He emphasised the need for research and innovation to drive growth in the sector. He also expressed confidence that the new practitioners and startups in the industry will present tremendous growth opportunities. The PRAGATI-2024 initiative is a significant step forward in the development of the Ayurveda industry in India. It is expected to provide a platform for collaboration and research that will eventually lead to the growth and advancement of the sector.

‘We have started programmes to reach out to teachers, students through research and scholarships’

Prof. Acharya highlighted the growing momentum of Ayush products, particularly Ayurveda, both in India and worldwide. “The aim of CCRAS is to reach each stakeholder and therefore we have started giving scholarships so that students understand the importance of research. We have started programmes to reach out to teachers, students through research and scholarships,” he added..

The event was well attended by CEOs/ MDs /Directors and head of research units from 37 pharma companies. Kavita Garg, joint secretary, Ministry of Ayush, was also present during the event.
