FARIDABAD: Gulabi Pankh, an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness and empower rural women, was held at Amrita Hospital in Faridabad recently. It saw an overwhelming response, with over a thousand women attending it. The event was organised by Rotary International District 3011 team lead by Dr Savita Chopra.

The highlight of the programme was ‘Hello Zindagi’, a deeply moving segment where breast cancer survivors Neeti Lookha and Bhawna Awasthy shared their courageous journeys, inspiring every woman present to prioritise early detection and health awareness.

The event commenced with a callto-order by District Governor Dr Mahesh Trikha, followed by the singing of national anthem and a ceremonial lamp-lighting. Swami Nijamritananda of Amrita Hospital delivered the opening address, setting the tone for an afternoon of education, inspiration, and empowerment.

In his keynote address, Dr Trikha reaffirmed Rotary’s commitment to the cause. Adding an emotional touch, children from Sai Dham presented a special act and Rotarian Binita Kakkar recited a poem, reinforcing the spirit of resilience and hope.

A press release issued by the organisers said with Gulabi Pankh, Rotary International District 3011 has taken a monumental step towards breaking myths, spreading awareness, and fostering a movement that ensures no woman is left uninformed or unempowered in the fight against breast cancer.
