NEW DELHI: With the vision of re-establishing India as a global hub of education, the government has launched Study in India (SII) portal. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar jointly launched the portal on August 3, in the presence of ambassadors from over 10 countries.
The portal is a dedicated website to provide comprehensive information about the Indian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The website will illustrate academic programmes, including undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and doctorallevel programmes. It will also provide information about courses such as yoga, ayurveda and classical arts among others.
Additionally, the portal will also provide information about academic facilities, research support and related information. It will also provide students with the option to apply to multiple institutes or courses of their choice. The portal will not just be an integrated one-stop solution for student registration but will also facilitate visa application process.
Addressing the event, EAM Jaishankar said, “This initiative will not only attract more international students from across the world but also establish a strong brand India footprint in the education sphere.” Pradhan said that the portal will simplify the academic journey of students in India. “Guided by the NEP, the SII portal reflects our commitment to make India a preferred education destination, ” he added.
