NEW DELHI: Access to clean water is a fundamental necessity, but how it is packaged, priced, and consumed varies worldwide. While municipal tap water is safe and free in some regions, bottled water remains a mandatory daily purchase in others. We look at a standard 1-liter bottle of drinking water through the lens of minutes of labour or a work-time index examining how municipal infrastructure, local manufacturing, and purchasing power shape an everyday essential.
