NEW DELHI: THE 39th Surajkund International Crafts Mela 2026, one of the world’s largest crafts fairs, is currently underway at Surajkund in Faridabad, Haryana.
The fortnight-long cultural extravaganza is attracting artisans, performers and visitors from across the country and abroad. Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan inaugurated the fair on January 30 and also launched the Mela Sathi app during the event. Speaking on the occasion, he said the country’s artisans are the custodians of centuries-old knowledge and empowering them is essential to build a strong, inclusive and sustainable economy.
This year’s mela features over 1,200 stalls showcasing handicrafts, handlooms, textiles, folk art and regional cuisines. Participants from more than 50 countries have turned the fair into a global cultural marketplace. Uttar Pradesh and Meghalaya are the theme states, while Egypt is the partner nation. The fair also offers daily cultural programmes, including folk music, dance performances and fashion shows, highlighting India’s rich artistic heritage. Organised by Haryana Tourism and the Surajkund Mela Authority, the event is meant to promote traditional craftsmanship and provide a global platform to artisans.
