NEW DELHI: The European Union announced that its leadership will be in New Delhi on February 27-28 to emphasise the importance of strengthening ties in key areas “vital to the prosperity and security of both Europe and India”. According to officials in the EU, trade and technology will be among the key issues during this first-ever visit to India of the EU’s College of Commissioners led by European Commission President Ursula van der Leyen.
The trip is being described as unprecedented as it is rare for the entire leadership to jointly visit any foreign country. “There are a number of issues that are outstanding (for an FTA), including tariffs,” an official was quoted as saying in a newspaper report.
