LUCKNOW: Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a veiled attack on the previous Samajwadi Party Government in Uttar Pradesh at the UP Global Investors Summit 2023, saying the then chief minister held the state’s investor summit in Delhi and admitted that people did not want to come to Lucknow. “I am not here to make political comments but when I stayed in Gujarat and was a minister there, in Lucknow there was a press conference of the then state CM, Akhilesh Yadav, announcing that they were holding an investors summit, but the venue was Delhi. When journalists asked him why has he chosen Delhi as the venue for an investment summit for UP, Yadav had to admit that people were not willing to come to Lucknow.
During his tenure from 2012 to 2017, Yadav had held investors summits in Agra, Mumbai and Delhi, with little success. After dislodging his Government, the BJP Government headed by Yogi Adityanath had held its first investors summit in 2018.
