Thirty six years ago, in 1986, when it was first held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, nobody had anticipated Auto Expo to attain the cult status that it has. Today, Auto Expo is among the most premier auto shows across the globe. From January 13 to 18 this year, the motor part of the Auto Expo was held at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida while the component show was held at the refurbished Pragati Maidan, in New Delhi. The split of the venues, which happened some years back, is a testimony to the growing stature of the show and the kind of footfall it attracts.
Organised by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), this year’s show saw a major focus on electric vehicles. Also on display was the fact that mobility is no longer just about cars. Today artificial intelligence, analytics and robotics play an important role in the form of shared rides, app-based cab services, automatic transmission, satellite navigation, voice commands and many other technologies. Visitors got a peek into all this and into the future of cars at the popular show. We bring you a glimpse of top models which were on display
