NEW DELHI: The schemes recently approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) will help in the judicious use of chemical fertilisers.
They will help in reducing input cost of farmers and promote natural and organic farming, use of innovative and alternate fertilisers like nano fertilisers. Besides, these schemes will help in restoring soil fertility.
Improved soil health leads to increased nutrient efficiency and a safe environment due to reduction in soil and water pollution. Safe and clean environment helps in the improvement of human health.
Waste to wealth
Better utilisation of crop residue (like parali or paddy stubble) will help resolve the issue of air pollution and improve the cleanliness and betterment of the living environment. It will also help in converting waste into wealth.
As mentioned, it will be beneficial for farmers as they are not burdened with extra price for buying urea. It continues to be available at the same statutory price. Various organic fertilisers will also be available at cheaper prices.
With low-cost nano urea and reduced use of chemical fertilisers and increased use of organic fertilisers, input cost for farmers will further come down.
Low input cost, coupled with healthy soil and water, will enhance the production and productivity of crops, thus assuring Farmers of good returns for their produce.
