NEW DELHI: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted the consistent approach of the Central Government towards reforms over the past nine years and contrasted their stable outcomes with the sporadic nature of earlier reform attempts. She was speaking at the B20 Summit hosted by the Confederation of Indian Industry, in New Delhi from August 25 to 27.
“Past reforms yielded mixed outcomes due to their uneven implementation. However, our approach over the past nine years has been more unwavering, even during the pandemic, based on the belief that challenges can serve as catalysts for positive transformation,” she pointed out.
The FM emphasised that India continues to register growth, and indicated that first quarter GDP figures for FY 2023-24 are keenly awaited.
Considering the global disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, Sitharaman underscored India’s priorities: investments in healthcare and education. She stated that even during the pandemic, the drive for reforms persisted.
