18th BRICS Summit New Delhi

NEW DELHI: The 18th BRICS Summit concluded in New Delhi on September 13, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscoring that the BRICS’ diversity should remain its identity, cooperation its inspiration, and its progress should contribute to the cause of humanity.

In his closing remarks on the final day of the two-day Summit, the Prime Minister said, BRICS is not merely a grouping of nations but an ecosystem of solutions. He said the discussions over the past two days had further strengthened this conviction.

A shared vision

PM Modi expressed hope that the New Delhi Declaration adopted at the summit would provide clear direction for a shared vision and future cooperation. He stressed the need to translate all outcomes into time-bound actions that deliver last-mile impact.

In his opening remarks, Prime Minister Modi had said that special emphasis had been placed on enhancing resilience within the BRICS grouping, as pandemics, climate disasters and supply-chain disruptions have shown that no crisis remains confined to one region in today’s interconnected world.

The following is the text, released by the MEA, of PM Modi’s closing remarks at the summit:
Friends, As we conclude the 18th BRICS Summit, I express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you for your active participation and valuable contributions.

Your insightful views and suggestions have added both breadth and depth to our cooperation. Your presence is a testament to the growing relevance, openness, and inclusiveness of BRICS. Our discussions over the past two days have further strengthened our conviction that BRICS is not merely a group of countries, but an ecosystem of solutions.

Real-life impact

We hope that the New Delhi Declaration adopted at this summit will provide clear direction to our shared vision and future cooperation. We must link all our outcomes with time-bound action and last-mile impact. We will work together to ensure that our frameworks move beyond files and create a real-life impact.

Friends, BRICS is about to enter its third decade. The world now expects not just ideas and commitments from us, but concrete results. I am confident that, through our collective efforts, we will certainly live up to these expectations.

As the next host of BRICS, I once again extend my very best wishes to China. I specially commend and congratulate all of you and your teams for making the New Delhi Summit a success. I wish you all a pleasant and safe journey.
Thank you very much!
