COLLECTIVE efforts, transformative outcomes and unprecedented achievements on all fronts by Prime Minister Narendara Modi’s third-term Government in 2024 have set the stage for happy (rather happier) New India in 2025.
As the Prime Minister himself said in a post on X, “2024 has been characterised by many feats and unforgettable moments. We are determined to work even harder in 2025 and realise our dream of a Viksit Bharat”.
Capex picks pace
Most forecasts present an encouraging picture of India’s economy in the New Year 2025. The Finance Ministry, in its monthly review, has said that India’s economy is set to grow at around 6.5 per cent in FY25.
There are signs of capital formation growth rebounding early, with Union Government’s capex picking up pace. The order books of infrastructure and capital goods are growing sharply. Healthy progress in rabi sowing signals a promising harvest in 2025, which will help in alleviating food inflation pressures over the year. A downward trend in international crude oil prices is a positive factor for the domestic inflation scenario.
India’s space programme soared throughout 2024 as ISRO’s Chandrayaan 3 Mission unveiled critical discoveries regarding moon’s surface. Furthermore, the space-based solar observatory, Aditya-L1, completed its first successful orbit in July. India’s Republic Day celebrations in 2024 were significant not just for their scale, but also for the historic participation of a 144-person tri-service women’s contingent. In a diplomatic win, India celebrated the return of eight Indian.
Navy veterans, who had been detained in Qatar on charges of espionage. For Indian sport, 2024 was a banner year, with victories that echoed far beyond the stadiums. Apart from winning the T20 Word Cup, India won the World Chess Olympics and provided the world’s youngest chess champion D Gukesh.
From space exploration to sporting triumphs, and diplomatic victories to environmental successes, India’s resilience has been on full display. With the year 2024 having come to a close, these stories of triumph serve as a testament to India’s unbreakable spirit, and a reminder that even in the most challenging times, hope can still shine through.
And with a propitious 2025, Prime Minister Modi is determined to make India happier, healthier, stronger, and a global leader in all spheres. He convened a meeting of the Union Cabinet right at the beginning of the year (on January 2) to make year that no time is lost in his Government’ efforts towards realising the goal of Viksit Bharat @ 2047.
