NEW DELHI: As part of its fight against drug abuse, the Government recently launched a 24×7 Helpline of which Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a special mention in his July Mann Ki Baat. Through MANAS – 1933, citizens can share information on drug trafficking, and connect with the Narcotics Control Bureau anonymously.
Talking about the challenge of drug menace, PM Modi said, “Every family is worried that their child might get caught in the grip of drugs. Now to help such people, the Government has opened a special centre, named MANAS. This is a very big step in the fight against drug abuse. A few days ago, the helpline and portal of MANAS was launched.”
PM Modi urged “all people, all the families, all the institutions engaged in making India ‘drugs free’ to make full use of the MANAS Helpline.
At the launch of the MANAS Helpline on July 18, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had said the fight against drugs is very important and should be fought with seriousness and priority. He said PM Modi’s goal of India becoming a world leader in every field by 2047 can only be achieved by keeping the younger generation away from the scourge of drugs.
